How is SavaliGear different from other planners?

  • Curated, not crowdsourced — gear notes and weights from a guide who tested them on actual expeditions.
  • Ready-made, continuously expanding gear library — you don't have to enter every item from scratch.
  • No ads, no data brokering — we are funded by affiliate commissions when you buy gear through our links.
  • An independent project, not a corporation — built by a guide out of love for the mountains, not by a marketing team.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. SavaliGear is and will stay free. We are funded by affiliate commissions from outdoor shops — when you buy something from the library through our link, we get a percentage. Product visibility is decided by quality, never by commission size.

What is „base weight"?

Base weight is the weight of your pack without food, water and fuel — what you carry through the entire trip regardless of the day. The lower your base weight, the easier you walk. Ultralight threshold is around 4.5 kg (10 lb), lightweight up to 9 kg.

How is it different from popular pack weight calculators?

SavaliGear ships with a curated gear library you can actually buy from European shops, plus Polish terminology where it fits. Popular pack weight calculators are great tools, but they have no library — you enter every item by hand from the package.

Are my packs private?

Yes — by default only you see them. You can mark selected packs as public (they get a unique sharing link) — but that is your decision, not ours.

Can I import a pack from another pack weight calculator?

CSV import from popular pack weight calculators is planned for the next few weeks. If you want us to ship it sooner — drop a line to kontakt@sniegula.com.

What is AI Shakedown?

It's an assistant that reviews your pack and proposes concrete changes: what to swap for a lighter option, what to leave at home and what to add, to get closer to your target weight. You accept or dismiss each suggestion; the final call is yours.

Can I plan a pack together with friends?

Yes. Invite your crew to a shared pack, agree on who carries what, and the weight splits across everyone — handy for a shared tent or group food.
